What is Matrix?

An $m \times n$ matrix is a table of real numbers with $m$ rows and $n$ columns: $A = (a_{ij})$, where $a_{ij}$ is the entry in row $i$, column $j$. Two matrices of the same size are added entry by entry, and $\lambda A = (\lambda a_{ij})$.
