A credit event is one of the events listed in a CDS contract whose occurrence triggers the protection payment, such as the reference entity’s bankruptcy or failure to pay. A determinations committee (DC) is the body of dealers and investors that decides, for all standard contracts at once, whether and when a credit event has occurred and how it is settled.
