An overnight index swap (OIS) is a swap whose floating leg pays an overnight benchmark rate compounded in arrears over each period (Definition 1.14). Since the end of LIBOR it is the standard swap in the currencies whose interbank rate ceased; in euros it trades alongside swaps on Euribor, which is still published (Box 8.1).
