What is Think-aloud protocol?

The think-aloud protocol is the practice of saying one’s reasoning while solving a problem, as it happens, without explaining it to the listener after the fact. The term comes from the psychology of problem solving, where verbal reports of this kind are recorded as data about the solver’s thinking (Ericsson and Simon).
