Transmission spectroscopy measures the transit depth as a function of wavelength, to detect the gases of the atmosphere that the starlight crosses at the planet’s limb. A secondary eclipse is the passage of a planet behind its star, half an orbit after the transit on a circular orbit; the drop of the system’s flux then measures the light of the planet’s day side.
