What is IC-weighted blend, maximum-ICIR blend?

Also known as: IC-weighted blend · maximum-ICIR blend

Definition 14.3 Research Craft: Predictors, Backtests, Measurement, Portfolios · Chapter 14 — Signal Combination

An IC-weighted blend sets each weight proportional to the signal’s past mean IC (zero if negative). A maximum-ICIR blend sets w∝Σ−1μw \propto \Sigma^{-1}\mu, with μ\mu the vector of the signals’ past mean ICs and Σ\Sigma the covariance of their IC time series: the weights that maximise the blended IC’s mean over its standard deviation.
