CoachMaterial non-public information (MNPI) is information about a security or its issuer that has not been made public and that is material: in the SEC’s words, a matter is material if there is a substantial likelihood that a reasonable person would consider it important. Trading on MNPI obtained in breach of a duty is insider trading.
