什么是 Amphidromic point; cotidal line; co-range line?

又称: amphidromic point · cotidal line · co-range line

Definition 21.15 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 3 · 第 21 章 — Ocean Dynamics

An amphidromic point is a point where the amplitude of a tidal constituent is zero and round which its high water turns. A cotidal line joins the places where a constituent’s high water comes at the same time; a co-range line joins the places of equal tidal range. Cotidal lines radiate from the amphidromic points; co-range lines circle them.

Two Kelvin waves of the M_2 tide in an invented channel 400\, km wide and 50\, m deep at 55 N, one going east along the southern coast, the other west along the northern coast. Red, the cotidal lines, every 30 of phase (about an hour), the thick one for high water at the time origin; blue dashed, the co-range lines, every fifth of the amplitude of one wave at its coast. The amphidromic points (dots) lie on the centre line half a wavelength, 495\, km, apart, and the high water turns round them anticlockwise (arrow).
