Carbon isotope excursion কী?

Definition 14.12 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 3 · অধ্যায় 14 — Stable-Isotope Geochemistry

A carbon isotope excursion is a geologically brief shift of the δ13C\delta^{13}\mathrm C of carbonates and organic matter worldwide, followed by a return, recorded in sedimentary sections.

(a) The 13 C of buried carbonate at steady state against the organic carbon burial fraction: carbonates near 0 mean f_ org near 0.2. (b) The carbon needed for an excursion of 2.5 or 4.0\, ‰ in an exchangeable reservoir of 50\,000\, Gt at 0, against the composition of the source.
