什么是 Cliff?

Definition 31.3 Primary & Middle School Earth and Space Sciences · 第 31 章 — Landforms

A cliff is a steep or vertical face of rock. On a coast, a cliff is cut by the waves, which attack its foot and make it retreat inland.

How a sea cliff retreats (a sketch, not to scale). (1) The waves cut a notch at the foot of the cliff. (2) The overhanging rock falls; the waves break up the blocks and carry them away. (3) The cycle repeats: the cliff moves inland and leaves a flat rock platform in front of it.
