Eady model কী?

Definition 20.9 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 3 · অধ্যায় 20 — Atmospheric Dynamics

The Eady model is a Boussinesq fluid on an ff-plane between two rigid horizontal surfaces at z=0z = 0 and z=Hz = H, with uniform buoyancy frequency NN and a westerly wind that increases linearly with height, U=ΛzU = \Lambda z, in thermal-wind balance with a uniform poleward decrease of temperature; its disturbances obey the quasi-geostrophic equations.

Left, the Eady growth rate against wavelength for the January zonal-mean shear at 45 N (NCEP–NCAR Reanalysis 1, 1991–2020), the mean tropospheric stratification and H = 11\, km: no growth below 3200\, km, fastest growth near 4700\, km. Right, a depression in its mature stage off the south-west coast of Iceland, 4 September 2003, its clouds wound into an anticlockwise spiral round the low (NASA/GSFC, MODIS Rapid Response Team, public domain).
