什么是 Goldschmidt classification?

又称: lithophile element · siderophile element · chalcophile element · atmophile element

Definition 3.1 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 2 · 第 3 章 — Elements in the Earth

The Goldschmidt classification sorts the elements by the phase they favour in a body that separates into metal, sulfide, silicate and gas. A lithophile element favours silicate and oxide; a siderophile element favours metallic iron; a chalcophile element favours sulfide; an atmophile element stays in the gas, as a gas or a volatile compound.

The Goldschmidt classes of the stable elements and of thorium and uranium, whose long-lived isotopes survive from the Earth’s birth, coloured by the class that dominates in the Earth; elements of the rare earth row sit in the box La–Lu. Several elements belong to two classes: iron, nickel and cobalt are also lithophile in the oxidised mantle; carbon is also siderophile, phosphorus siderophile in meteorites.
