又称: hydrograph · baseflow · lag time

Definition 8.6 High School Earth and Space Sciences · 第 8 章 — Drainage Basins, Rivers and Floods

A hydrograph is the graph of the discharge of a river at one point against time. The baseflow is the part of the discharge fed by groundwater, which keeps the river flowing between rains. The lag time of a flood is the time between the peak of the rainfall on the basin and the peak of the discharge.

The hydrograph of a flood (schematic). After the rain, the discharge rises to a peak and falls back more slowly; the area under the curve is the volume of water. The baseflow, fed by groundwater, changes little; the rest is the runoff that the rain sent quickly to the river.
