The large-ion lithophile elements (LILE) are incompatible elements with large ions of low charge, $+1$ or $+2$ : potassium, rubidium, caesium, strontium, barium. The high-field-strength elements (HFSE) are incompatible elements with small, highly charged ions, $+4$ or $+5$ : zirconium, hafnium, niobium, tantalum, titanium.
