A lineation is a linear fabric that pervades a rock, measured by its trend and plunge. An intersection lineation is the set of lines in which two planar fabrics cut each other, such as the bedding and a cleavage; a stretching lineation is made of grains or pebbles drawn out along the direction of greatest stretch.
