什么是 Locking depth?

Definition 18.10 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 1 · 第 18 章 — The Earthquake Source

The locking depth of a fault is the depth down to which it is locked between earthquakes, the fault below sliding steadily at the long-term rate; it is the depth of the part of the fault that slips in the next earthquake.

Velocity of the ground parallel to a locked strike-slip fault, relative to the fault trace, for a slip rate V = 34\, mm\, yr-1, that of the San Andreas fault at Wallace Creek, and three locking depths (). The shallower the lock, the narrower the belt in which the velocity changes.
Velocity of the ground parallel to a locked strike-slip fault, relative to the fault trace, for a slip rate V=34 mm yr−1V = 34\,\mathrm{mm}\,\mathrm{yr}^{-1}, that of the San Andreas fault at Wallace Creek, and three locking depths (Proposition 18.11). The shallower the lock, the narrower the belt in which the velocity changes.
