什么是 Magma mixing; crustal assimilation; AFC?

又称: magma mixing · crustal assimilation · assimilation--fractional crystallisation

Definition 8.11 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 2 · 第 8 章 — Magmatic Differentiation

Magma mixing is the blending of two magmas of different compositions into one. Crustal assimilation is the incorporation of crustal rock into a magma, by melting and dissolution of the wall rock or of blocks fallen into it. Assimilation–fractional crystallisation (AFC) is their combination in one chamber: the magma crystallises, and the latent heat released melts and assimilates the wall rock.

Assimilation with fractional crystallisation for strontium (D = 1.5, wall rock with half the strontium of the magma and 87Sr/86Sr = 0.7200, magma 0.7035; illustrative values). Left: the concentration falls faster as the assimilation rate r rises, since the wall rock brings less strontium and more crystals form for the same F. Right: the isotope ratio, unchanged by crystallisation alone (r = 0), climbs towards that of the wall.
Assimilation with fractional crystallisation for strontium (D=1.5D = 1.5, wall rock with half the strontium of the magma and 87^{87}Sr/86^{86}Sr = 0.7200, magma 0.7035; illustrative values). Left: the concentration falls faster as the assimilation rate rr rises, since the wall rock brings less strontium and more crystals form for the same FF. Right: the isotope ratio, unchanged by crystallisation alone (r=0r = 0), climbs towards that of the wall.
