什么是 Meridional heat transport?

Definition 27.8 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 1 · 第 27 章 — Radiation and Heat Transport

The meridional heat transport T(φ)T(\varphi) across the parallel of latitude φ\varphi is the energy carried northwards across that parallel per unit time, by the atmosphere and the ocean together, in the annual mean. It is counted positive northwards and measured in petawatts (1 PW1\,\mathrm{PW} = 1015 W10^{15}\,\mathrm{W}).

The meridional heat transport implied by the reanalysis’s net radiation (black) and its latent-heat part (dashed green, from the evaporation and the precipitation, ); NCEP-NCAR Reanalysis 1, means 1991–2020, data provided by the NOAA PSL. Square: the peak of the atmospheric transport alone in an estimate constrained by satellite measurements of the radiation, 5.0\, PW at 43 N (Trenberth and Caron, 2001).
