什么是 Metamorphic facies; facies grid?

又称: metamorphic facies · facies grid

Definition 10.11 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 2 · 第 10 章 — Metamorphic Reactions and Facies

A metamorphic facies is a set of metamorphic mineral assemblages, repeatedly associated in time and space, showing a regular relationship between mineral composition and bulk chemical composition, such that different facies correspond to different metamorphic conditions, chiefly temperature and pressure. The facies are named and defined on the assemblages of rocks of basaltic composition. A facies grid is the arrangement of the facies in the pressure–temperature plane.

zeolitezeolites such as laumontite and heulandite

amphibolitehornblende + plagioclase (more than 17 %17\,\% anorthite)
granuliteclinopyroxene + orthopyroxene + plagioclase; olivine not stable with plagioclase or garnet
blueschistglaucophane + epidote ±\pm garnet, or glaucophane + lawsonite
eclogiteomphacite + garnet; plagioclase not stable
pyroxene hornfelsclinopyroxene + orthopyroxene + plagioclase; olivine stable with plagioclase
sanidinitethe same, with very-high-temperature minerals such as pigeonite
The facies and their diagnostic assemblages in rocks of basaltic composition, after the international recommendation (Eskola’s eight facies, with the zeolite and prehnite–pumpellyite facies added later).
The facies grid, schematic: the order of the facies of the table in the pressure–temperature plane. Boundaries are gradational and drawn without numbers on purpose: the facies are defined by assemblages, and the reactions that bound them depend on the composition of each rock.
