The Mohorovičić discontinuity, or Moho, is the seismic discontinuity at the base of the crust, where the speed of P waves jumps from at most about $7\,\mathrm{km}/\mathrm{s}$ to about $8\,\mathrm{km}/\mathrm{s}$ , the speed in the uppermost mantle.
