什么是 Moment-of-inertia factor?

Definition 3.3 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 1 · 第 3 章 — Comparative Planetology

The moment-of-inertia factor of a planet is the number

C=IMR2,C = \frac{I}{MR^2} ,

where II is its moment of inertia about its rotation axis, MM its mass and RR its mean radius. A uniform sphere has C=25=0.4C = \tfrac25 = 0.4; a planet whose density increases toward the centre has C<0.4C < 0.4, the smaller the more the mass is concentrated.
