Definition 14.3 High School Earth and Space Sciences · 第 14 章 — Ocean Ridges and the Oceanic Lithosphere

The oceanic crust is the crust of the ocean floor: about 7 km7\,\mathrm{km} of basalt and gabbro, made at the ridges. The oceanic lithosphere is the oceanic crust together with the rigid peridotite of the uppermost mantle beneath it.

The layers of the oceanic crust, to scale in depth. The thicknesses of the lavas and dykes are those of the deep hole drilled in the eastern Pacific; the total thickness is the average from seismic surveys. The sediment cover grows thicker with the age of the floor.
