A reaction-path model follows the composition of a water and the minerals it forms as a reaction progresses, by adding small amounts of a reactant (a mineral dissolving, a gas leaving, heat removed) and recomputing the speciation and the saturation indices at each step, precipitating any mineral that reaches saturation.
