什么是 Reflection terminations?

又称: reflection termination · onlap · downlap · toplap · erosional truncation

Definition 2.20 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 3 · 第 2 章 — Exploration Seismology

A reflection termination is the end of a reflection against another. Onlap: an initially horizontal reflection ends against a surface that rises more steeply, the younger beds lapping onto an older slope. Downlap: an inclined reflection ends down-dip against a gentler surface, as the toes of prograding beds rest on the floor of a basin. Toplap: inclined reflections end up-dip against an overlying surface, with little erosion, as the tops of prograding beds meet the level of the sea. Erosional truncation: reflections end up-dip against an overlying surface that cuts them, an unconformity.

Reflection terminations (schematic sections, grey reflections, terminating surfaces in colour). (a) Tilted reflections cut by an unconformity. (b) Flat reflections ending against an older slope. (c) Inclined beds of a prograding wedge ending up-dip against the surface above (toplap) and down-dip on the basin floor (downlap).
