什么是 Shoreface and wave bases?

又称: shoreface · fair-weather wave base · storm wave base

Definition 17.5 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 3 · 第 17 章 — Facies Models

The shoreface is the sloping zone seaward of the beach where waves continually rework the sea floor. Its base is the fair-weather wave base, the depth below which ordinary waves no longer move the bottom sediment. The storm wave base is the deeper limit reached by storm waves; between the two, mud settles in calm weather and is reworked into sand beds during storms. Below the storm wave base the floor is undisturbed by waves.

A wave-dominated shoreline profile (schematic, vertical scale much exaggerated). Above the fair-weather wave base the shoreface sand is reworked every day; between the two wave bases mud alternates with storm-deposited sand beds; below the storm wave base mud accumulates.
