什么是 Soil production function？

The soil production function gives the rate $P$ at which bedrock is converted to soil as a function of the soil thickness $h$; it is commonly taken as $P = P_0\,e^{-h/h_0}$, where $P_0$ is the rate on bare rock and $h_0$ a length of a fraction of a metre.
