A weather station is a place where the weather is measured every day, always in the same way, with instruments: a thermometer in a ventilated white box, a rain gauge in the open, a wind vane on a mast.

A small weather station. The thermometer is in the shade, in a white box with slatted sides, about 1.25 metres above the grass; the rain gauge stands in the open, far from the tree; the wind vane is high above the obstacles.
