What is Angular magnification?

For an instrument used by the eye, the angular magnification is $G = \theta'/\theta$, where $\theta'$ is the angular size of the image seen through the instrument and $\theta$ the angular size of the object seen with the naked eye — at the near point $d_m = 25\,\mathrm{cm}$ for a near object, in place for a distant one.
