什么是 Apparent dip?

Definition 5.3 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 1 · 第 5 章 — Cross-Sections

The apparent dip β\beta of a plane in a given vertical section is the angle between the horizontal and the trace of the plane in that section. It equals the true dip δ\delta when the section runs along the dip direction, and is zero when it runs along the strike.

Apparent dip (schematic block). A plane dipping east (blue) shows its true dip on the front face, a vertical face cut along the dip direction; on the grey vertical section, cut obliquely, its trace (red) descends more gently, with the apparent dip ; on a section along the strike, north–south, it would be horizontal.
