什么是 Apparent magnitude, photometric band?

又称: photometric band · apparent magnitude

Definition 2.13 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 1 · 第 2 章 — Telescopes, Detectors and Photometry

A photometric band is a range of wavelengths selected by a standard filter, named by a letter: U (ultraviolet), B (blue), V (visual), R (red), I (near infrared), and J, H, K in the infrared windows. The apparent magnitude mm of a source in a band is defined from its flux FF in that band by

m1−m2=−2.5log⁡10F1F2,m_1 - m_2 = -2.5\log_{10}\frac{F_1}{F_2} ,

with the zero point fixed by standard stars, close to the magnitude of the star Vega in each band. A difference of 5 magnitudes is a factor of exactly 100 in flux; one magnitude is a factor 1001/5=2.512100^{1/5} = 2.512. Brighter sources have smaller, and possibly negative, magnitudes.
