什么是 Continental crust?

Definition 19.1 High School Earth and Space Sciences · 第 19 章 — The Continental Crust

The continental crust is the crust that forms the continents, including the parts of them under shallow seas. It is thick, of granitic composition on average in its upper part, light, and it can be very old.

Composition of the continental crust compared with a mafic magma, the kind that makes the oceanic crust: the main oxides, in percent of the mass (FeO counts all the iron). The continental crust is richer in silica, sodium and potassium, poorer in iron, magnesium and calcium. Data: Rudnick and Gao (2014); mafic range from S. Earle, Physical Geology (CC BY 4.0).
