什么是 Detachment-limited and transport-limited incision?

又称: detachment-limited incision · transport-limited incision

Definition 18.7 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 3 · 第 18 章 — Quantitative Geomorphology

Incision is detachment-limited when the river can carry away more sediment than it receives, so that its rate of lowering is set by how fast it detaches bedrock from its bed: the stream-power law applies. It is transport-limited when the river carries all the sediment it can, so that its bed is lowered only where the transport capacity grows downstream, at the rate set by the divergence of the sediment flux.

The response of a river to a fall of its base level (dashed: the profile before the fall; blue, then red: two later times), schematic. (a) A detachment-limited river keeps a sharp knickpoint that migrates upstream; below it the profile has its old shape, lowered. (b) A transport-limited river lowers its whole profile progressively, most near the outlet.
