Finite strain analysis, Fry method কী?

অন্য নাম: finite strain analysis · Fry method

Definition 8.7 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 3 · অধ্যায় 8 — Structural Analysis

Finite strain analysis is the measurement of the strain ellipse, or ellipsoid, that a rock has undergone, from the shapes, orientations or spacings of objects whose state before the deformation is known. In the Fry method, the vector from the centre of every object to the centre of every other is plotted from one common origin; when the centres were spread with a minimum spacing and no preferred direction, the empty region around the origin is an ellipse of the shape and orientation of the strain ellipse.

The Fry method on an invented population of grain centres, laid with a minimum spacing of 1 and then strained to R_s = 2, long axis at 30 anticlockwise from the horizontal, area kept. (a) The centres, in which the eye hardly sees the strain. (b) The vectors between all pairs of centres closer than 2.6: the empty centre is the strain ellipse. The red ellipse is fitted to the nearest point in each of 36 sectors: ratio 1.9, long axis at 30.

The Flinn diagram of strain ellipsoids. The undeformed state is the origin, a = b = 1; the cigar-shaped ellipsoids of constriction lie towards the vertical axis, the pancakes of flattening towards the horizontal one.
