Gabbro is a dark, coarse-grained igneous rock made mainly of plagioclase feldspar and pyroxene. It has the same composition as basalt, but it crystallised slowly, deep underground, which gave its crystals time to grow. It is the most abundant rock of the deep oceanic crust.
