什么是 Geotherm; geothermal gradient?

又称: geotherm · geothermal gradient

Definition 12.3 High School Earth and Space Sciences · 第 12 章 — Lithosphere and Asthenosphere

A geotherm is the curve of temperature against depth beneath a place. The geothermal gradient is the rise of temperature per unit of depth, in degrees per kilometre.

A model geotherm under a continent (blue) and the temperature at which mantle rock (peridotite, without water) begins to melt (orange). The geotherm is computed from the mean heat flow of the continents and measured rock properties; in the asthenosphere (grey) it rises slowly. The dashed line shows how the lithosphere’s steeper rise would continue. The two curves come closest, about 140\, C apart, near the base of the lithosphere.
