什么是 Isostatic rebound?

Definition 23.6 High School Earth and Space Sciences · 第 23 章 — The Destruction of Mountains

Isostatic rebound is the rise of a region of the lithosphere when a load is removed from it — rock worn away by erosion, or an ice sheet that melts — until isostasy is restored.

Erosion and isostatic rebound (schematic, heights not to scale). Left: a range in isostasy, with its root. Middle: erosion removes a thickness e from the top. Right: the lighter column rises until isostasy is restored; the surface ends only 0.163\,e lower than at the start, and the root has risen by 0.837\,e.
