什么是 Metamorphic core complex, rolling hinge?

又称: metamorphic core complex · rolling hinge

Definition 9.8 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 3 · 第 9 章 — Extensional and Strike-Slip Tectonics

A metamorphic core complex is a dome of metamorphic rocks and mylonites, brought up from the middle or lower crust, beneath a detachment fault whose upper plate is a mosaic of tilted blocks of upper-crustal rocks. In the rolling hinge model, the detachment slips at a moderate dip at depth; as the upper plate moves away, the unloaded footwall rises by isostasy and bends, so that each part of the fault rotates to a low dip, and stops slipping, once it has passed through a hinge that migrates with the extension.

Anatomy of a metamorphic core complex (not to scale). The footwall of the detachment, a dome of middle-crustal rocks with a carapace of mylonites, rises beneath the upper plate as it is pulled away to both sides; the part of the detachment that has passed the rolling hinge has been bent to a low dip and no longer slips. Tilted blocks of the upper plate rest on the detachment.
