示例

Example 17.5 (A cubic metre of sand)

One cubic metre of sand, full of water, holds 1000×25÷100=2501000 \times 25 \div 100 = 250 litres of water in its pores. Of these, 1000×22÷100=2201000 \times 22 \div 100 = 220 litres drain out by themselves; 30 litres stay stuck to the grains. One cubic metre of clay holds twice as much water, 500 litres, but only 20 litres drain out.
