什么是 True thickness, vertical thickness?

又称: true thickness · vertical thickness

Definition 5.7 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 1 · 第 5 章 — Cross-Sections

The true thickness tt of a layer is the distance between its base and its top measured perpendicular to the bedding. Its vertical thickness hh is the same distance measured along the vertical, as a vertical borehole meets it.

Thicknesses of a dipping layer in the vertical plane perpendicular to the strike: the true thickness t, perpendicular to the bedding; the vertical thickness h = t/; the outcrop width w = t/ on flat ground (schematic, with = 25).
Thicknesses of a dipping layer in the vertical plane perpendicular to the strike: the true thickness tt, perpendicular to the bedding; the vertical thickness h=t/cos⁡δh = t/\cos\delta; the outcrop width w=t/sin⁡δw = t/\sin\delta on flat ground (schematic, with δ=25∘\delta = 25{}^{\circ}).
