什么是 Vergence?

Definition 17.15 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 1 · 第 17 章 — Faults, Folds and Fabrics

The vergence of an asymmetric fold is the horizontal direction toward which its upper part has moved relative to its lower part: the direction in which it is overturned or, for an inclined fold, toward which it leans.

A train of chevron folds overturned to the right, in profile, with an axial-planar cleavage (thin blue lines), drawn to scale: axial planes dipping 60 to the left, interlimb angle 40. The long limbs dip 40 to the left, less steeply than the cleavage, and are the right way up; the short limbs dip 80 to the left, more steeply than the cleavage, and are overturned. Turning the cleavage onto the bedding through the acute angle is clockwise on every long limb and anticlockwise on every short limb. The folds verge to the right.
