CoachA peroxisome is a small single-membraned organelle containing oxidative enzymes that transfer hydrogen from substrates (fatty acids, alcohol) to oxygen, producing hydrogen peroxide, and catalase, which destroys the peroxide on the spot. It confines a dangerous chemistry.
