什么是 Denudation rate?

Definition 23.1 High School Earth and Space Sciences · 第 23 章 — The Destruction of Mountains

The denudation rate of a region is the mean thickness of rock that weathering and erosion together remove from it per unit of time. It is usually given in metres per million years (m/Myr\mathrm{m}/\mathrm{Myr}), which is the same as millimetres per thousand years.

Denudation rates measured with beryllium-10 (red: 1599 measurements, 1149 of them in river sand) and two rates computed in this chapter from the sediment that rivers carry (blue). Sources: Portenga and Bierman (2011); Meade and Moody (2010); Syvitski and others (2005).

Definition 20.14 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 1 · 第 20 章 — Erosion and Transport

The denudation rate DD of a region is the mean rate at which the removal of matter, as solid grains and in solution, lowers its surface, expressed as the equivalent thickness of fresh rock per unit time, in metres per million years (m/Myr\mathrm{m}/\mathrm{Myr}, the same as millimetres per thousand years). The mass removed per unit area and time, in tonnes per square kilometre and per year, is the specific sediment yield.
