Ice core কী?

Definition 27.3 High School Earth and Space Sciences · অধ্যায় 27 — Reading Past Climates

An ice core is a cylinder of ice drilled out of an ice sheet or a glacier. Its depth gives the age of the ice, the deeper the older; the ice records the temperature of the air in which its snow fell, and its bubbles keep samples of the air of the time.

Eight hundred thousand years of Antarctic ice, averaged over steps of 2000 years. Red: the temperature at Dome C compared with the last thousand years (Jouzel and others, 2007); black: the carbon dioxide of the bubbles (Bereiter and others, 2015). Today is on the right.
