A landslide is a mass of rock, earth or mud that suddenly slides or falls down a slope.
A large landslide in Washington State, in the United States, in 2014, seen from an aircraft. The hillside on the right has collapsed; its mud has spread across the whole valley, covered a road and blocked the river, which has flooded the woods upstream.
