A U-shaped valley is a valley with a broad, flat floor and steep sides, carved by a glacier that widened and deepened a narrow V-shaped river valley. A moraine is a ridge of rock debris, from dust to boulders, left by a glacier: a lateral moraine along its side, a terminal moraine at its end.
