What is Bernoulli trial?

Definition 19.1 High School Mathematics · Chapter 19 — The Binomial Distribution

A Bernoulli trial is an experiment with exactly two outcomes: success, with probability pp, and failure, with probability 1p1 - p. The random variable XX equal to 11 on success and 00 on failure is said to follow the Bernoulli distribution B(p)\mathcal B(p); then

E(X)=p,V(X)=p(1p).\E(X) = p, \qquad \V(X) = p(1 - p).
