Secular cooling কী?

Definition 24.6 High School Earth and Space Sciences · অধ্যায় 24 — The Earth’s Internal Heat

The secular cooling of the Earth is its slow loss of the heat stored inside it since it formed, the primordial heat: the part of the heat flow that radioactivity does not replace, by which the mantle and the core grow colder over the ages.

The Earth’s heat budget today: what leaves the surface (top bar) and what supplies it (bottom bar). Sources: KamLAND (2011); Davies and Davies (2010); Dye (2012).

Definition 10.3 University Earth and Space Sciences — Year 1 · অধ্যায় 10 — The Earth’s Heat Budget

Secular cooling is the part of the Earth’s heat loss supplied by the slow decrease of the temperature of its interior, mantle and core: the release of heat stored since the planet’s formation, at a rate −∑jMjcj dTj/dt-\sum_j M_j c_j\,\mathrm dT_j/\mathrm dt for reservoirs of mass MjM_j, specific heat cjc_j and mean temperature TjT_j.

The Earth’s heat budget. Top: the heat lost through the ocean floor and the continents, (47 ± 2)\, TW in all. Bottom: its sources, with the radiogenic part of uranium and thorium measured by geoneutrinos and that of potassium estimated; the rest, by difference, is secular cooling, of which the core supplies a poorly known part. The orange bar shows the range of the radiogenic part allowed by the geoneutrino measurements.
