Wave function and Born’s rule কী?

অন্য নাম: wave function · Born's rule · superposition principle

Definition 30.2 University Physics — Year 2 · অধ্যায় 30 — The Schrödinger Equation and Wave Functions

The state of a particle moving along xx is described by a complex wave function ψ(x,t)\psi(x,t) such that

 ⁣dP=∣ψ(x,t)∣2  ⁣dx\dd\mathcal P = |\psi(x,t)|^2\,\dd x

is the probability of finding the particle between xx and x+ ⁣dxx + \dd x at the time tt (Born’s rule); hence the normalisation ∫−∞∞∣ψ∣2 ⁣dx=1\int_{-\infty}^{\infty}|\psi|^2\dd x = 1, and the expectation values ⟨x⟩=∫x∣ψ∣2 ⁣dx\langle x\rangle = \int x|\psi|^2\dd x, Δx2=⟨x2⟩−⟨x⟩2\Delta x^2 = \langle x^2\rangle - \langle x\rangle^2. Wave functions obey the superposition principle: if ψ1\psi_1 and ψ2\psi_2 are possible states, so is αψ1+βψ2\alpha\psi_1 + \beta\psi_2 (normalised), and the probabilities then contain the interference term 2Re⁡(α∗β ψ1∗ψ2)2\operatorname{Re}(\alpha^*\beta\,\psi_1^*\psi_2). A global phase factor eiθ\eu^{\iu\theta} changes nothing; a relative phase between two superposed components changes the interference.
