La suite $(u_n)$ tend vers $+\infty$ si pour tout $A \in \R$ , il existe $N \in \N$ tel que $u_n \geq A$ pour tout $n \geq N$ . On écrit $\lim\limits_{n\to+\infty} u_n = +\infty$ ; la définition de $\lim u_n = -\infty$ est analogue. Une suite qui ne converge pas est dite divergente.
